Birthday Bash Stampin Friends Hop

Welcome to the Birthday Bash Stampin Friends Hop.

Happy Birthday to me!  I am so excited about the hop this month.  It’s my birthday month.  We all need a month to celebrate … right???  I think I will use this set for my granddaughter’s birthday in April.  She’ll love it!!

You have arrived at Kathie’s (that’s me!) blog.  If you have arrived from Sue Vine’s amazing blog … I’m glad you came for a visit!  Be sure to continue  though the hop until you get back to where you started.  I hope you find lots of inspiration as you hop on through!  The list of participants is at the bottom of this post.  Just click on Elizabeth Jeanne to get to the next stop on the hop.

Here are my projects for our February Birthday Bash hop.  I chose to focus on  Stampin’ Up!’s  Magical Day Bundle from the 2018 Occasion’s catalog for my contribution.  It is such a fun set.

This is a side step card.  I found the tutorial for this fancy fold over at SplitcoastStampers.com.

The banners are from the Birthday Delivery Bundle from the 2017-18 annual catalog.  I used the “sky” paper from the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper.  On this card I used Old Olive for my card base because I planned on having “grass” instead of so much brick … but I liked the brick better.  If I were to make another one, I would probably use Basic Gray as my base.

Oh … The mermaid.  Yup!  She turns into a damsel/princess if you trim her tail a bit!!

I used our Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers to color the various elements in the stamp set.  I love them.  I definitely need some more practice, though!  I should have worked a bit more on the dragon!

I made the castle from Smoky Slate cardstock and the Brick Wall Embossing folder.  I made the turrets with the Classic Label punch.  I sponged the bricks and edges with Smoky Slate ink to “dirty things up”.  The vines are cut with the dies from the Magical Day Bundle.  I applied our Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to the back of the Old Olive card stock before I die cut them.

I made an extra 3-D card because I thought it would be fum to make Rapunzel letting down her hair!  This card is a 10-1/2″ x 3″ strip of paper scored at 2.5, 5. 7.5 and 10″.  Fold it, open it and run it through the Big Shot with the Brick Wall Embossing folder, punch some turrets.  A little sponging.   Easy Peasy.  It folds flat and it fits in a regular envelope.

It was a lot of fun to decorate.  The door is an oval cut from the layering oval dies from the Wood Textures DSP stack.  The door handle and hinges are from the Sliding Door Framelits Dies in the Occasions catalog.  You could put a “floor” in the box and make it a holder for party favors.

My 3-D project is my version of Sara Douglass’s cupcake box.  It uses a mini pizza box as a base to hold a standard cupcake.  Just use the layering circle dies to cut the hole for the cupcake.  The box just slips over the pizza box.  There is a window sheet covering the window.  Such fun decorating!
